Reading the newspaper is fear.

a New Year's card from an old friend

These words written in beautiful hand were on the card. I happened to read the sentence of "I felt scared of opening the newspaper in the morning." in a collection of essays, "When Polished, You Will Shine." written by a children's literature author, Momoko Ishii on this NewYear Day. It was the time that there were repeated articles about the murder suicide of parents and children in the postwar recession. She says that the anguish just before death when they were left alone pierced her heart. The bottom is coming out of society rapidly. Is my friend worried about it too?
