Water off a duck's back

a proverb

It is no use saying to anyone who is not reasonable. Those who preach reason sigh that they have no option but to wait until the opponent realizes through painful experience. But is it so? Never trying to undermine the assumption that those knowing reason are on the side of people who admonish and the opponent are on the side of people who are admonished, they just sigh. In that sense, the fact may be that those preaching reason won't listen to others. You need to try to make your opponent's heart open before reasoning.
