Shoichiro Sakurai

It seems that Kyoto University has a tradition of not holding a publication party. An associate professor who was also a famous writer held a publication party, and ethnologist Tadao Umesawa told him not to hold a party like this any more. Hearing this, scholar of English literature Sakurai said it was fortunate that there was no compliment in the “afterword” his friend wrote. Sakurai wrote that you cannot devote yourself to scholarship in the cozy climate. From "Kyoto School: Drunken Scholars."
