Kikugoro Onoe, the sixth

 

 

A Kabuki actor in the Showa Era, the seventh Koshiro Matsumoto, who was the father of the second Shoroku, entrusted his 15-year-old third son, Shoroku, to a famous actor, Kikugoro. Since then, he never put in a word about lessons that Kikugoro gave. Gonta of “Sushiya” was a role that the fifth Koshiro was good at in the Edo period. When Shoroku played the role for the first time, Kikugoro not only scolded him loudly in spite of the audience but also gave him a lesson of lines.
